Solid card, minor app issue

I got the FutureCard to try out the green rewards. The sign-up process was pretty smooth, and I liked that it integrates with my digital wallet easily. I've used it for groceries and some bike share trips, and the cash back has been reliable, which is great. I also appreciate the spending insights. The one small thing I noticed is that the carbon footprint tracker sometimes takes a bit to update accurately in the app after a purchase. It's not a huge deal, but a faster update would be nice. Otherwise, it's a good product with no fees, and I'm generally happy with it.

Smooth experience, decent rewards

I signed up for the FutureCard after seeing an ad. The application process was straightforward on their app, which I found to be pretty user-friendly. Setting up direct deposit was easy too. I received my physical card within about a week, and it worked fine for my first few purchases. I've been using it for my electric vehicle charging and some plant-based meat purchases, and the 5% cash back has been consistent. Customer support was helpful when I had a question about funding my account; they responded to my email within a day. Overall, a solid debit card for eco-friendly spending.

Still reliable after a year

I've been a FutureCard user for over a year now, and this recent experience was just as good as my first. I added it to Apple Pay instantly after getting my virtual card, which is always a plus. I used it for some sustainable fashion purchases and, as usual, the cash back applied correctly. It's consistently delivered on its promises, especially with the carbon footprint tracking which is still a cool feature. No issues with transactions or the app ever, which is why I keep using it over other cards.

Good value for green spending

I was looking for a debit card that offered some perks, especially since I try to shop sustainably. The FutureCard caught my eye with its climate-smart cash back. I got a small sign-up bonus which was a nice start. The 5% on things like public transit and thrift stores really adds up for me. I compared it to a few other green banking options and this one offered the best cash back rates for my spending habits. It feels like I'm getting a good return on my everyday purchases, making it worth the switch.

So, is this card actually legit? Like, is my money safe if I put it here instead of a traditional bank?

B Brett 1 month ago
It's FDIC insured, so your money is protected just like it would be at a regular bank, up to the limits. That was a big thing for me too.

Yeah, totally legit. My funds are FDIC insured. It's not a bank itself, but they partner with one that handles the actual banking stuff, if that makes sense.

What happens if I need to return something I bought with the FutureCard? Is it a hassle, or does it work like a normal return?

P Paula C. 1 month ago
Returns work totally normal. The money just goes back onto your FutureCard, same as any other debit card. I returned a shirt last month, no issues.

It's a Visa debit, so returns are handled by the merchant, then the refund comes back to your card. No extra steps from Future's side.

What's the deal with the sign up bonus? Do I need a special code or something to get it?

L Laura N. 1 month ago
Yeah, usually it's through a referral link. Someone has to send you their unique link and you sign up through that.

S Steve N. 1 month ago
My friend gave me a link and I got a bonus after my first purchase. You typically enter the code when you're setting up the account for the first time.

Do I have to pay a monthly fee for the FutureCard? Or is it really zero fee like some other debit cards?

C Colin Silva 2 months ago
Nope, no monthly fees for the basic FutureCard. They do have a premium membership called FuturePass, but that's optional and separate.

J Julia M. 2 months ago
The standard debit card is definitely no fee. I've had it for months and haven't seen any surprise charges.

Anyone know how the 5% cash back actually works? Is it on everything or just specific stores?

T Todd Carter 2 months ago
It's on specific categories and merchants that are considered 'climate-smart.' They have a pretty big network though. You can check the app to see which ones apply.

K Kate S. 2 months ago
Not on everything. Think stuff like public transport, EV charging, thrift stores, certain healthy groceries. You gotta use it for eco-friendly purchases to get that high cash back.
